Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using DocChat (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
DocChat is a web-based tool that lets you upload PDF, DOCX, and TXT documents and turn them into a RAG-powered AI chatbot. The chatbot answers questions grounded in your documents, with source citations, and can be embedded on your own website.
3. Accounts
To use the Service you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account.
4. Free Plan and Subscriptions
DocChat offers a free plan and paid subscriptions ("Pro" and "Business"). Paid plans are billed either monthly or annually, as selected at checkout, through our payment provider lava.top.
Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. You can cancel or change your plan at any time from the billing page. If you cancel, your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free plan or is disabled.
5. Your Content
You retain all rights to the documents you upload. By uploading documents, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and index them solely to provide the Service to you. You represent that you own or have the right to use any content you upload.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload or process illegal, infringing, or harmful content.
- Violate the rights of others, including intellectual property and privacy rights.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to send spam or abusive messages through your chatbots.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or misuse the Service in a way not intended.
7. AI-Generated Content
Answers generated by DocChat are provided as-is and may not always be accurate, complete, or current. You are responsible for reviewing and validating the output of your chatbots before publishing it. The Service does not provide professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these terms, no longer meet our eligibility requirements, or if we discontinue the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
